Commonly used phrases can often sound unprofessional in a corporate setting, and figuring out what's acceptable and what's not is half of the problem! Since we knew this would be a debatable topic we decided to ask our experts what they thought on the matter and here's what they had to say.

  1. 'I'm sorry'
  2. 'That’s not my job'
  3. 'This is how we’ve always done it.'
  4. 'I don’t know what to do'
  5. 'Not my problem' or 'Not in my job description'
  6. 'That’s above my pay grade.'

Though none of these phrases are likely to get you directly fired, if they become a habit, your professional reputation will likely suffer and limit other opportunities.
