For the first time in 35 years, iconic comedian will be returning to NBC’s Saturday Night Live.
On Monday (August 26), the network behind the long-running weekly sketch comedy show unveiled its upcoming roster of hosts and musical guests for its upcoming 45th season, including the legendary SNL alum himself.
Per this week’s announcement, Murphy is scheduled to host the program’s holiday episode on December 21, which celebrates the former series regular’s first time back as host since he concluded his run in 1984. The Coming to America actor's final appearance was on the show's 40th anniversary episode, during which the famous funnyman received an honorary tribute. As yet, a musical guest for Murphy’s SNL return has not been announced.
Woody Harrelson will host the kick-off episode on September 28, which will see alt-pop darling Billie Eilish make her SNL premiere on the new season.
Other celebrities set to emcee the sketch show this year include Emmy-nominated actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge(Fleabag) on October 5,Stranger Things actor David Harbour on October 12, and Twilight alum Kristen Stewart on November 12, the latter of which has yet revealed a musical act. As for musical performances,Taylor Swift will be delivering a set during Waller-Bridge’s episode for the first time since 2017, and will signal her SNL debut during Harbour’s episode.
