How to Keep Calm When You're Nervous

Flight or Fight. There are moments in life that nervousness and anxiety can creep in, but YourTango put together a list of habits that you can use to stay calm when you're nervous and they are spot on.

Here are some habits that can help keep you calm:

  • Be present - this can eventually lead you to being the leader and helping other be present.
  • Be okay with silence
  • Relax your shoulders- have you ever noticed the tightness in your body when you are nervous? Paying attention and relaxing your shoulders can make a big difference.
  • Slow down - slowing down can send a message to your brain to slow down too.
  • Understand that others are worried and insecure and flawed too
  • Be still
  • Smile gently
  • Listen and listen with your whole body
  • Let go of self-pressure
