Influencer Jordyn Woods, the girlfriend of New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns, shared a concerning post amid his mysterious absence from Tuesday's (March 4) loss to the Golden State Warriors at Madison Square Garden.
Woods wrote "F**k Cancer" on her X account, though not elaborating further on if she specifically shared the post in reference someone close to herself or Towns. The model, who lost her father to cancer in 2017, received several responses, including one from actor and Knicks fan Ben Stiller, who wrote, "Agree" with orange and blue heart emojis matching the team's colors.
Towns, 29, who was acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves this past offseason, is averaging 24.5 points and 13.4 rebounds during his first season with the Knicks, having been selected as an All-Star for the fifth-time in his 10-year NBA career.
New York is 3-3 in the six games the veteran center has missed this season and head coach Tom Thibodeau declined to answer whether the team would be without him entering a five-game West Coast road trip beginning with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday (March 6).
“I can’t answer that,” Thibodeau said prior to Tuesday's game via the New York Post. “I can’t, because I just don’t know, so when he’s ready to come back, obviously we want him back. But he needs some time right now.”
The Knicks recently welcomed back center Mitchell Robinson, who was on a minutes restriction during his third appearance of the season against the Warriors Tuesday night, recording seven points and five rebounds in 15 minutes.
