Here's How Much The Damage Done In 'Home Alone' Would Actually Cost IRL

Not only is Home Alone one of the most beloved Christmas movies, well, ever, it's actually the highest earning holiday-themed film of all time. According to Box Office Mojo, Home Alone has a lifetime gross of $285.5 million. When adjusted for ticket price inflation, though, Home Alone made the equivalent of $619.1 million in today's time.

Needless to say, a lot of people have seen Home Alone over the years. Kevin McCallister's hijinx never get old, either. Sometimes, though, viewers can't help but wonder how much damage Kevin's battle against the home invaders would actually cost IRL. A made-to-measure blind manufacturer, Swift Direct Blinds and Carl Goulding from trade-finding service MyBuilder.com actually priced up just how much it would cost to fix the chaos caused by the Wet Bandits (aka Marv Murchins and Harry Lyme). Here's what they discovered:

The first floor, which was damaged by the falling iron, a blow torch and the glue and feathers prank, had an estimated $10,280 worth of damage done throughout the film. The second floor suffered less damage, however, there was still an estimated $2,060 worth of damage inflicted.

Kevin, Marv and Harry's antics cost a pretty penny, to say the least. They may actually need to keep the change, after all.
