Kentucky remembers a legend

A stretch of highway in Grayson County, KY is being named the "John Asher Memorial Highway.

John Asher was a legend in Louisville radio as well as a heritage piece of Churchill Downs History. Asher passed away suddenly due to a heart attack in August of 2018 while on vacation with is family.

The stretch of highway that bears Asher's name begins on highway 259, right in front of WLMT, where John got his first broadcasting job in Kentucky.

Recently, I received the Bell Award for my work with my non-profit, Kans for Kids. I was truly humbled to know that among the selection committee sat a very cheerful John Asher. We were the last group of recipients that he hand picked in our community to honor.
